Getting a tan in Mallorca

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

If you are going to Mallorca to get a tan, here are some beaches and beach clubs worth mentioning:

Es Trenc is next to the small town Ses Covetes. The beach is backed up by sand dunes, which extend into Salobrar de Campos, a 1500 hectare natural reserve. This beach is so famous that I try to avoid it during the summer holidays, especially on the weekends. There is public parking Es Trenc with prices that vary according to the season and then there's a small bus that takes you to the seven kilometres stretch of beach that feels decidedly Caribbean. You will find a small chiringuito near the sunbeds that are for rent, but you are better off bringing your own food and drinks.

There is another long beach with a Caribbean feel called Playa de Muro, which stretches from the resort of Puerto d'Alcúdia to Can Picafort, close by is S’Albufera nature reserve. Now here, I have one of my favourite restaurants called

Ponderosa beach where you sit and have paella with your feet in the sand, best feeling ever!

I also really like the Cap Falco, which is in Calvia. This is a small cove with a dozen sunbeds but if you get there early you might be lucky. What is really nice is the chill beach club where you can get some food and drinks by the beach.

Another two beaches I enjoy:

Camp de Mar with its restaurant on an island

Portals beach with a view on the Illa d'en Sales

Next let´s hit the beach clubs, you must book the sunbed and restaurant in advance. I usually go on the Sunday when the beaches are packed with tourists and locals.

In no particular order of preference...

Purobeach Palma with a pool, because it's not that big, when the DJ gets started it can be noisy. You are there to be seen, there is no quiet corners.

Purobeach Illetas next to the sea, it has no pool but it's much bigger and spread out, so you get more peace and quiet if you want.

Beach Club Gran Folies has a salt water pool and you have access to the sea (no beach). This club has been there forever and is still as successful.

Mhares Sea Club has the biggest swimming pool of them all. More relaxed with a beautiful view

UM Chambao Portals has a small swimming pool and similar to the Purobeach Palma, has a DJ, and the restaurant is really good.
