Paris City Trip

Updated: Apr 6

Living in Brussels, we are lucky enough to be able to pop on the Eurostar to Paris for the day.

So I'm always on the look out for a new exhibition taking place in the capital.

My recommendation is to get the tickets in advance, to avoid too much queuing or worse no tickets left.

You should always have it on your list of museums to visit when you are in Paris.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton is a contemporary art museum and it all start with the building itself. Frank Gehry designed “a magnificent vessel for Paris that symbolises France’s profound cultural vocation”

I have been there to admire the Mark Rothko exhibition, Basquiat x Warhol, Painting four hands and Morozov collection ‘Icons of Modern Art’ exhibition.

Fondation Louis Vuitton is in the Bois de Boulogne, if you don't have a car to get there, you can always take their minivans that run every 20 minutes between the Fondation and the metro station Charles de Gaulle Étoile

Grand Palais

This museum is opposite the Pont Alexandre III, the 9th-century arched bridge in a Beaux Arts style & named after a Russian Czar.

Grand Palais was built for the Universal Exhibition in 1900 and has undergone renovation from 2021 to 2025. It has now become Grand Palais Rmn and has reopened to give us incredible exhibitions all year round.

When you visit you must check out The Nave, an emblematic feature of the building, which was also restored and transformed.

One exhibition that was spoken about and praised was Chiharu Shiota The Soul Trembles. This artist took over the Palais with her large-scale installations and invited us on a majestic, dreamlike journey.

Centre Pompidou

In 2025, the Centre Pompidou is beginning a major transformation.

Starting in the fall, this iconic Parisian building will close for renovation works and will reopen in 2030. Meanwhile, the spirit of the Centre Pompidou will resonate through numerous partner venues across France and internationally,

Then you also have the classic Parisian museums that everyone has heard about, namely Le Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Musée de l'Orangerie, Musée Rodin and Le petit Palais to name a few. I must be honest I've not been there is ages, mainly because of the crowds but I should add one to my list every time I go back to Paris.

Arc de Triomphe

I managed a day in Paris with my ICGF (inner circle girlfriend) to see the artwork by Christo and Jeanne-Claude in 2021 that wrapped the Arc de Triomphe in a silver-blue fabric with red rope.

Restaurants in Paris

Les petites bouchées

We stumbled upon this restaurant and like the idea of sharing small dishes for lunch and I must say we weren't disappointed.

You choose 6 dishes for 2 of us and it was plenty enough. The choices were original, tasty and varied, also suitable for vegans. We thoroughly enjoyed it and added a glass of wine to make it perfect.

Mignon Café

If you are heading to check out Montmartre in the morning, I must recommend a great place for breakfast or brunch. They also serve coffee, tea and cakes in the afternoon.

The Mignon Café is a small really cute café with a few tables on the pavement. Everything we ordered was amazing but I must say their carrot cake was the best I've ever tasted.

Costes Restaurant

If you want to spot models and celebrities, head to Costes in the 1er arrondissement. The restaurant is part of the hotel Costes and the best seats are in the courtyard. The food is simple and tasty but let's be honest everyone is there to be seen.

Le vieux Crapaud

When visiting the Arc de triomphe, we pop in a local restaurant just round the corner. It was lunchtime and all the office workers were out for lunch, it sort of a thing in France, you rarely have a sandwich at your desk but you got out with your colleagues for the menu of the day.

We had to wait a bit for a table but it was well worth it. We had an amazing lunch at restaurant le vieux crapaud, for starters snails followed by a côte à l’os and fries, so so good!
